Next Door Pediatric Clinic will stop providing primary care in December

Children’s Wisconsin closing Milwaukee clinic, families rally

Join the MICAH Health Taskforce to Expand Health Care Access in Milwaukee

The MICAH Health Taskforce is dedicated to increasing access to quality health care in Milwaukee, particularly in underserved communities like Metcalfe Park. After the closure of Next-Door Clinic in December 2024, our team worked diligently to ensure health services would return to the area. We are proud to share that, through our advocacy, Children’s Wisconsin has agreed to allow a Federally Qualified Health Center to open at the former Next Door Pediatric Clinic site.

Progressive Community Health Centers has applied for funding to launch the new clinic, with the goal of opening by 2026. If successful, this will provide hundreds of families with access to critical health care services.

In the meantime, we are calling on Children’s Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Health Department to provide essential services in the community—such as lead testing, mental health support, doula services, and possibly opening a local WIC office at that site.

We are especially concerned about the alarming Black maternal mortality rate in Wisconsin, which is five times higher than that of white women. This stark disparity highlights the urgent need for equitable health care solutions.

If you’re passionate about closing the health care gap and improving outcomes for all, especially Black mothers and families, we invite you to join us.
Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 4:00 PM.
